A Tic disorders are characterized by sudden, repetitive, and involuntary movements or vocalizations called tics. These can range from mild to severe, and while some individuals may experience them only temporarily, others may be diagnosed with Tourette syndrome or persistent tic disorder.
Types of Tics:
Motor Tics: These involve physical movements. Simple motor tics include blinking, eye rolling, head jerking, shoulder shrugging, and facial grimacing. Complex motor tics involve a sequence of movements, such as touching objects repeatedly, hopping, or jumping.
Vocal Tics: These involve sounds. Simple vocal tics include throat clearing, sniffing, grunting, or humming. Complex vocal tics can include repeating words or phrases.
