These disorders are recurrent, intense, sexually arousing fantasies, urges, or behaviors that are distressing or disabling and that involve inanimate objects, children or nonconsenting adults, or suffering or humiliation of the person or a partner, with the potential to cause harm. Exhibitionistic, Voyeuristic, and Frotteuristic Disorders are paraphilic disorders characterized by recurrent, intense sexual urges, fantasies, or behaviors that cause significant distress or harm.
• Intense and Persistent Sexual Arousal: Individuals experience recurrent, intense sexual urges or fantasies involving atypical objects, situations, or individuals.
• Distress or Impairment: The paraphilic interest causes significant personal distress or interferes with social, occupational, or other important areas of life.
• Harm to Others: The sexual urges or behaviors involve non-consenting individuals or cause harm to others.
• Compulsive Behaviors: Individuals may feel compelled to act on their urges despite negative consequences, potentially leading to relationship problems, legal issues, or other difficulties.
• Difficulty Controlling Behaviors: Individuals may struggle to control their sexual urges or behaviors, even when they recognize the potential harm or negative consequences.
• Psychological Distress: Individuals may experience feelings of guilt, shame, or anxiety related to their paraphilic interests or behaviors.
