Panic Disorder

This is a mental disorder, specifically an anxiety disorder, characterized by reoccurring unexpected panic attacks. Panic attacks are sudden periods of intense fear that may include palpitations, sweating, shaking, shortness of breath, numbness, or a sense of impending doom.

Characterized by unexpected and repeated panic attacks, along with persistent worry about future attacks and their potential consequences                                                                                                          Physical Symptoms:

Cardiovascular: Palpitations, pounding heart, accelerated heart rate.

Respiratory: Shortness of breath, feeling of choking, hyperventilation.

Neurological: Dizziness, lightheadedness, trembling, shaking, numbness, tingling, feeling unsteady.

Other: Sweating, chills, hot flashes, nausea, stomach pain, chest pain or discomfort.                      Cognitive/Emotional Symptoms:

Fear and Anxiety:

Intense fear, terror, or anxiety, feeling of impending doom, fear of losing control or dying.

Cognitive:

Derealization (feelings of unreality) or depersonalization (feeling detached from oneself).

Worry:

Persistent worry about future attacks, avoidance of situations where attacks have occurred.
