Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders are a group of mental health conditions characterized by intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that cause distress and interfere with daily life. These disorders are distinct from, but often co-occur with, anxiety disorders. While anxiety disorders primarily involve excessive worry or fear, OCD and related disorders involve specific obsessions and compulsions.
Anxiety Disorders:
Excessive worry and fear.
Feeling on edge, irritable, or restless.
Difficulty concentrating.
Physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat or sweating.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD):
Obsessions: Intrusive and unwanted thoughts, urges, or images that cause anxiety.
Common obsessions include fear of contamination, doubt, orderliness, and aggressive or sexual thoughts.
Compulsions: Repetitive behaviors or mental acts performed to neutralize obsessions and reduce anxiety.
Common compulsions include washing, checking, ordering, arranging, and counting.
Important Considerations is there are Overlapping Symptoms.
